Cockett Ward Councillors Sponsor Club’s Jerseys for New Season

The four Labour councillors from Cockett have sponsored Waunarlydd RFC’s jerseys for the 2019/20 season. Their name is proudly displayed across the front of the 1st XV and Athletic kits as well as being included on the back of the new youth shirt.

Club chairman Andrew Wedlake said the club were delighted with the councillors’ contribution from their community budget.

"We are very grateful for the Cockett Labour councillors for sponsoring our club jerseys for the 2019/20 season. It is a very generous gesture that is crucial for helping in the running of the club,” he said.

“The club is run totally by volunteers, and it is very difficult running a club in these times of austerity. We pride ourselves in being a community club and this generous support helps us provide the opportunity of involvement in rugby for over two hundred local children and fifty adults."

In a statement the councillors said: “As councillors for the community we are really pleased to support the rugby club which is at the heart of our community.”
