Bar Manager Job

Waunarlwydd Rugby Club

 

Post Title: Bar Manager (part time – Approx. 16 hours p/w)

Responsible to: Club Directors and Bar Sub Committee.

 

Job Summary

 

The Bar Manager will be expected to lead the Bar staff and bar focused volunteer teams that jointly represent the public face of Waunarlwydd Rugby Club at events, ensuring the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction and achieving all commercial targets.

The club is currently open on a Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday. It is often open on other ad-hoc events. This is liable to change, and the Bar Manager must be flexible to suit the requirements of the club.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

To act as premises supervisor for Waunarlwydd Rugby Club

To work with team to ensure that Waunarlwydd Rugby bar is run effectively, to ensure customer satisfaction from the public and corporate guests

To ensure that an appropriately staffed and stocked bar is provided for events, hires and other functions as required

To be responsible for employing, training, managing and developing volunteers and other paid staff to ensure an efficient bar service is maintained as required

To undertake regular Bar Supervisor shifts across a range of event types in the evenings, daytimes, weekdays and weekends.

To maintain accurate stock movement records and ensure that regular stock-taking is undertaken and reports provided to the Head of Directors and club secretary as required

To work with automated tills setting up products, users and reporting on stock, cashing up etc.

To act as a key holder for the building with responsibility for opening and closing as required for inspections, deliveries, meetings and other events.

To undertake any other duties as required that are commensurate with the general level of responsibility for this post

To liaise with all relevant statutory authorities eg licensing, fire officer, health & safety and suppliers

Required Knowledge and Experience.

To ensure that the club is a safe place to work and visit.

 

• Some practical experience of managing and working in a busy bar environment.

• Experience of managing and training staff/ Volunteers.

• Good communications skills.

• Good administrative skills including record keeping.

• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative under pressure.

• Lively and outgoing personality.

• Flexible – evening and weekend work will be required.

 

 

Key Terms and Conditions

 

The salary for this post will be dependent upon experience, and does have an enhanced rate for unscheduled hours. Applicants who wish to discuss the role in advance of application can arrange

to talk to the club Directors.

The post is offered as a part time role (approx. 16 hours per week) Working hours will include a mix of evening and daytime shifts and will involve regular weekend working.

The post holder will also be on the emergency call-out list and may be required to respond to last minute shift request, as and when required.
